Project for Research on Welfare, Work and Domestic Violence

The Project for Research on Welfare, Work, and Domestic Violence is a collaboration with the University of Michigan School of Social Work's Research Development Center on Poverty, Risk, and Mental Health. The project serves as a clearinghouse for information about domestic violence and welfare receipt. At its shared website (click here), summaries of research data about the relationship of violence and poverty are continually posted. The web site also contains a bibliography of books and articles on violence and poverty. The project conducts a biannual conference during which researchers, policy makers, and grassroots organizations, and advocates come together to understand the latest research data and their implications for welfare reform and anti-poverty initiatives. The conference also helps to envision the next research and policy agenda. The last conference was held October 17-19, 2003 at the University of Texas in Austin.
